Teacher Training




This teaching qualification is recognised all over the world and will take your career to the next level. It is a UK Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, meaning that it is a Level 6 qualification on the Irish National Framework.

It is an intensive course which requires a lot of time and dedication.

The aim of The Beauty Institute is to facilitate you with the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently conduct your classes, deliver professional courses and assess with ease. This course will set you on your way to becoming an outstanding facilitator of education.


Entry Requirements and Pre-Requisites

Attendees of this course must 19 years of age or over. You must have a Leaving Certificate and you should hold a qualification in the area that you wish to teach; beauty, hairdressing, make up artistry, body massage, reflexology, personal training and fitness, nail technology etc. You should be qualified in this area for a minimum of three years. However please call 090-6433601 if you are not as an exemption may be made on your behalf. You will need access to a computer to complete assignments also.


Course Structure

One Sunday per month for 7 months. Each class is 10am – 4pm.

Course Content

Mandatory Units

  • Understand roles, responsibilities and relationships in Education & Training
  • Planning to meet the needs of Learners in Education & Training
  • Delivering Education & Training
  • Assessing Learners in Education & Training
  • Using resources for Education & Training

These mandatory units total 21 credits. A further 15 credits are obtained from the optional units.

Each monthly class consists of class work, group work, discussions and questioning, facilitation, home study and research.


As well as the units completed above, you will also study:

  • Curriculum development
  • Presentation skills
  • Methods of Assessment
  • Demonstration Skills
  • Effective teaching methods

Each assignment requires plenty of research and study. This is all done in your own time in between each class. Your Tutor for this course is there as a guide and to help you understand the material you will cover each month. They will also assess your assignments and work and assist you in any way they can. Unlike the course you would have previously completed it is down to each student to compile their research, assignment and work.

We also see need to see you teach. Students will complete their assessed teaching observation in our college. However we do recommend that you do the bulk of your teaching observation and practice in another college for greater experience. This will also help improve your skill and knowledge of the subject.
